Lesson topic and staging

This lesson looks at meals, cooking and eating habits of people. Students learn a set of new words related to kitchen and food, nutrition. Then students answer the questions about cooking and their own eating habits. Next, students read a text „ What ´s for dinner ?“ about people´s eating habits. Students focus on the sentences from the text, they decide if they are true or false and discuss the questions. Then students read the menu in the restaurant, answer the questions connected with the menu and do a puzzle from underlined words in the text. Finally, students complete the sentences using the words and phrases related to food, nutrition and read a text about Jamie Oliver´s kitchen.

Objectives

By the end of the lesson, students should have:

- extracted specific information and language items from the reading texts

- expanded their range of vocabulary related to food, cooking and nutrition

- expanded their range of words and phrases connected with food

- understood the meaning of the underlined words from the text

- discussed questions on the topic of nutrition
