Lesson topic and staging
This lesson looks at our planet and the questions connected to it. At the beginning of the lesson students check the meaning of words and explain them. Students do a quiz “How Green Are You?” Then students read a text “Is our Earth fragile?” Students work in pairs and answer the questions about our planet Earth and give their own opinions. Next, students read an article about our planet and extract vocabulary. Students then write an essay on “What to do to make our world greener”. Finally, students read a dialogue and extract vocabulary, they can also listen to the story online and also find more on the story.
Objectives
By the end of the lesson, students should have:
- extracted specific information and language items from reading texts and a listening exercise
- expanded their range of vocabulary related to our planet Earth
- participated in pair discussions to express their opinions on our planet
- written an essay on “What to do to make our world greener”
- understood the meaning of the words from the dialogue
